Probably the hardest thing for us as human beings to understand is that the gift of eternal life is totally free. Millions of people in the world today want to have eternal life when they die. They think by "going to church," reading the Bible, abstaining from eating certain foods, going to confession, becoming a missionary, being a good person, participating in communion (i.e. going to mass) giving money to the poor and needy, the list goes on and on; they think that in doing these things God will give them eternal life. This is the biggest mistake you could ever make. In Matthew 7:22 Jesus said to those who were actually prophesying, driving out demons, and performing miracles in his name, that they were evildoers and would not inherit eternal life. Why? Because they were trying to gain eternal life by doing good works. In Ephesians 2:8-9 it says that eternal life (i.e. salvation) is “a gift of God, not by works.”     

You may have other questions or thoughts that pertain to the Bible and spiritual things which I would be happy to answer. Right now however, I want to show you how you can have eternal life.

Simply confess to God that you are a sinner and in need of a savior. Believe that Jesus Christ became that savior who died in your place on the cross for the punishment of your sins. Romans 10:9 says, “If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” That’s it!
